whoa my giveaway

I know I know, finally! I am very proud to announce the first Whoa My Darling giveaway.

The winner will receive a set of 3 handmade folded cards (and envelopes). They are 3.5 inches by 5 inches. Simple cards that are blank of the inside.

To enter: All you have to do is comment on any post on the Whoa My Darling blog (one entry per person). The winner will be chosen at random on May 1st. Please check back to see if you won. This is open to all countries!

I am very excited for the first giveaway! I have been having trouble finding time to blog with work and school which is funny because I have found the next book I am going to read. It is definitely the longest book I have ever attempted. I have heard the book is wonderful as well as the movie. Any ideas? It is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This is going to be quite a challenge to get through all one thousand five hundred odd pages. But I intend to do so! Have you ever read it?

I finally finished the book Water for Elephants which was absolutely wonderful! I am so excited to go see the movie this weekend. I recommend you read it.

New Book!

Tonight before dinner, we went in a bookstore and while walking through the children's section I came across this book that became my instant favorite!

It is "A Sick Day for Amos McGee" by Philip C. Stead. The story is adorable and the illustrations are so lovely. Erin E. Stead did them with subtle colors and such great detail.

Seriously, when was the last time you saw a book this cute? I can't wait to come up with a lesson to go with it just so I can share it will the kids.

Now Reading

Those that know me know that I absolutely love books. I am always looking for excuses to go to the bookstore and buy more books for myself, or to add to my growing collection for my future classroom. I always get excited when someone tells me about a good book, or when someone asks for my favorite books.

[The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint Exupery, A Million Little Pieces by James Fray, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Juliet,Naked by Nick Hornby, The reader by Bernhard Schlink, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, The Pee Wee Scouts by Judy Dalton, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, King Bidgood's in the Bathtub by Audrey Wood, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster]

These are just a few of my favorite books. I recommend reading them all at least once.

What are your favorite books?
